Updating Dusky

Dusky keeps itself up to date automatically, and asks before it installs anything so an update never interrupts an interview.

When a new version is available, Dusky downloads it in the background and then shows an Update Available prompt:

  • Install Now — Dusky restarts into the new version.
  • Remind Me Later — Dusky keeps running; you install on your own schedule.

Occasionally a release is mandatory (for example, a required security fix). In that case Dusky shows a blocking Update Required screen, and you install it before continuing.

Open SettingsAboutCheck for Updates. If you are current, Dusky tells you “You have the latest version.”

If an automatic update cannot apply on your machine, reinstall the latest version manually from the downloads page. Your account, subscription, and local data are preserved across a manual reinstall.

If Dusky closes unexpectedly, it can restore your last session — your recent screenshots and the problem context you were working on. On the next launch you see a “Dusky recovered from a crash” banner:

  • Keep — restores your previous screenshots and context.
  • Discard — starts fresh.

Nothing is restored without your choice, so a recovered session never surprises you mid-interview.
