AI is not returning a response
Section titled “AI is not returning a response”Check these first:
- Internet connection — AI features require an active connection. Verify you are online.
- Signed in — make sure you are signed in to your Dusky account.
- Subscription status — if your free trial or subscription has expired, AI features are disabled. Check your account status in Settings.
- Capture first — with the microphone off, press Cmd/Ctrl+H to screenshot a question, then Cmd/Ctrl+Enter to solve. AI needs input to work with. With the microphone on, see Cmd/Ctrl+Enter does nothing at all below.
Response is slow
Section titled “Response is slow”- Think Deeper mode (Cmd/Ctrl+Shift+Enter) intentionally takes longer because the AI performs extended reasoning. Standard solve (Cmd/Ctrl+Enter) is faster.
- A slow response can also mean high load on the AI provider. Wait a few seconds and try again.
- Check your internet speed — a slow connection delays both the request and response.
Response quality is poor
Section titled “Response quality is poor”- Capture a clean screenshot. Zoom in on the question so it fills the screen. Avoid capturing unrelated content like browser tabs or chat windows.
- Use audio transcription for spoken questions. A clear transcript gives better results than a screenshot of a video call where the question is only spoken.
- Try Think Deeper. Press Cmd/Ctrl+Shift+Enter for a more thorough analysis with edge cases and alternative approaches.
- Clear and retry. Press Cmd/Ctrl+Shift+K to clear, then Cmd/Ctrl+Enter again. Sometimes a fresh attempt produces a better result.
Cmd/Ctrl+Enter does nothing at all
Section titled “Cmd/Ctrl+Enter does nothing at all”If the microphone is on and no new speech has been transcribed yet, Cmd/Ctrl+Enter is ignored silently — no message, no error, no spinner. It is indistinguishable from the shortcut failing to register.
- If you are waiting on a spoken question, let the interviewer finish and press it again.
- If the question is on screen, turn the microphone off with Cmd/Ctrl+Shift+A first, then press Cmd/Ctrl+Enter. Capturing with Cmd/Ctrl+H does not help while the mic is on — the transcript path still wins and the screenshot is ignored.
Error messages
